The 18th MIMS Moscow International Autoparts Exhibition 2023 officially took place at the Crocus Expo Center in Moscow, Russia, on August 22, Beijing time. The exhibition, which began in 2005, is dedicated to showcasing the potential of Russia's overall automotive industry and enhancing the competitiveness of domestic products in both the local and international automotive markets. For over a decade, MIMS has also been assisting "newcomers" in entering the Russian automotive and parts market, helping them establish new business connections and sales channels.
This year's exhibition attracted over 100 leading companies from the global auto parts industry, covering an exhibition area of 50,000 square meters. The event showcased new technologies, products, design concepts, and services, ranging from auto parts and accessories to the automotive maintenance industry, drawing more than 32,000 professional visitors from countries including Russia, Turkey, Iran, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and China.
Sunshine Traffic, featuring its own brands Bailong Wipers and BUYLONG, made a prominent appearance at the MIMS exhibition, showcasing innovative wiper products with water-based coating technology, capable of withstanding temperatures up to 80°C and extreme cold as low as -40°C. The company also promoted concepts such as "project-based wiper sales" and "OEM 2.0" to car owners and dealers from Russia and other Eastern European regions.
Approximately two-thirds of auto parts in Russia are imported, and automobiles and auto parts have become one of the main products that Russia imports from China, with rapid growth. As of mid-2023, Russia had 82.98 million Chinese brand vehicles, accounting for 3% of the total registered passenger cars. In just the first two months of this year, Russians spent a total of 41.3 billion rubles (about 5 billion RMB) on Chinese car brands, making up 9.7% of total spending on new passenger cars—double the market share from the same period last year. The continuously growing number of retained vehicles also provides strong momentum and space for Chinese companies to develop in the aftermarket. By participating in exhibitions like MIMS, Chinese enterprises are further promoting trade cooperation and technological exchange, gradually securing a position in the Russian and CIS markets.
As of mid-2023, Bailong Wipers has promoted the project-based sales model and established local distributors in regions such as Hong Kong, Taiwan, Russia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Spain, the United States, and Brazil. Additionally, it has delivered comprehensive solutions to five overseas clients, with sales revenue approaching $3 million.
Initially, we brought our mature experience from the overseas aftermarket into the domestic market. Later, we extended the excellent market strategies from the mainland to overseas markets, achieving success both domestically and internationally with products selling well around the globe. This ability to extract the essence of both markets and continuously innovate is a key reason why Bailong Wipers has not only survived but thrived despite the challenges of the three-year pandemic. Moving forward, we will continue to learn and explore, navigating the waves of the market economy and setting sail towards further success.
